Whether you’re young or old, single or married, a parent or child-free, Doncaster has lots to offer as a place to live. Located in South Yorkshire, United Kingdom right next door to Sheffield, Doncaster is a town with everything you could want right on your doorstep. Here are just five of the best reasons to come and live here, but there are plenty more!

Within the town, you’ll find plenty of shopping opportunities, cafes, and restaurants. The Frenchgate Centre is a huge shopping mall right in the heart of Doncaster where you can shop in the warmth and enjoy a range of different food outlets. Outside is the town centre, with the wool market, CAST Theatre, and a wide range of shops on the high street.

There’s the Savoy Cinema and Vue Cinema in the town, and the popular The Dome Leisure centre is within easy walking distance of Doncaster. The National Doncaster Damum Museum is worth a visit if you have children or just enjoy the history and culture – recently relocated from its old location on Chequer Road, the museum, now located next to CAST is free to enter and you can learn, enjoy a spot of reading, a drink and bite to eat in the cafe, and more!

History doesn’t stop there, Cusworth Hall Museum shows you how setting up a home to working and socialising was like, reflecting on the daily lives of people in Doncaster from the 18th century. Today, visitors can step inside the hall’s Great Kitchen where many feasts were prepared and a view the stunning paintings on the ceiling of the chapel

Let’s take a walk on the wild side, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, commonly referred to as YWP, is a wildlife park located in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, in England. It was built on a former riding school, which closed to the public in November 2008.

Where is Doncaster's Location

Doncaster is located directly off the A1 with excellent links by road and rail to Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. You can cut across the Peak District to reach Manchester in under an hour-and-a-half, and London is two hours away by train.

Friendly locals in Doncaster

Doncaster folk are friendly and open. They’ll chat with you at the bus stop, they’ll give helpful directions if you’re lost, and you’ll soon be made to feel at home if you move here.

A town that feels like a city

Doncaster is quite a compact city; you can easily wander from one end of the centre to the other in 15 minutes. It has all the big high street stores and chain restaurants you’d expect to see in a city, but there are also lots of independent shops and cafes. Try The Rustic Pizza Co and Rustic Burger Co in The Wool Market for Pizza’s, Burgers, Beer, or The Boardgame Cafe not far from Waterdale, where you can eat home-cooked food and try out their library of board games. It’s the sort of city where you can feel safe to walk around on your own after dark.
