Within the town, you’ll find plenty of shopping opportunities, cafes, and restaurants. The Frenchgate Centre is a huge shopping mall right in the heart of Doncaster where you can shop in the warmth and enjoy a range of different food outlets. Outside is the town centre, with the wool market, CAST Theatre, and a wide range of shops on the high street.
There’s the Savoy Cinema and Vue Cinema in the town, and the popular The Dome Leisure centre is within easy walking distance of Doncaster. The National Doncaster Damum Museum is worth a visit if you have children or just enjoy the history and culture – recently relocated from its old location on Chequer Road, the museum, now located next to CAST is free to enter and you can learn, enjoy a spot of reading, a drink and bite to eat in the cafe, and more!
History doesn’t stop there, Cusworth Hall Museum shows you how setting up a home to working and socialising was like, reflecting on the daily lives of people in Doncaster from the 18th century. Today, visitors can step inside the hall’s Great Kitchen where many feasts were prepared and a view the stunning paintings on the ceiling of the chapel

Outside the town, Hertern Triangle has a Vue cinema, bowling alley, and lots of restaurants, such as Nando’s and TGI Fridays; across the road is the Keepmoat Stadium, home to Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Belles and The Dons. If you fancy a walk, Lakeside is just a short distance away, with stunning views and wildlife.

Doncaster is located directly off the A1 with excellent links by road and rail to Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. You can cut across the Peak District to reach Manchester in under an hour-and-a-half, and London is two hours away by train.

A town that feels like a city
Doncaster is quite a compact city; you can easily wander from one end of the centre to the other in 15 minutes. It has all the big high street stores and chain restaurants you’d expect to see in a city, but there are also lots of independent shops and cafes. Try The Rustic Pizza Co and Rustic Burger Co in The Wool Market for Pizza’s, Burgers, Beer, or The Boardgame Cafe not far from Waterdale, where you can eat home-cooked food and try out their library of board games. It’s the sort of city where you can feel safe to walk around on your own after dark.
